Today my wife and I went for a long walk on the beach. The brilliant sunshine was such that I almost forgot I was wearing sunglasses – the sun was that bright. I’ve never known the sea to be this warm, yet it’s apparently the water’s coldest time in Grenada. Truly, this place is paradise. I can’t see why any Grenadian would want to experience England’s climate.
This evening we had a barbecue on the beach, which was accompanied by a rather awesome steel band that played a mixture of Caribbean and Western hits. The atmosphere here is so friendly, with all the people you meet more than happy to serve or chat to you. Life in general is just so much more relaxed than it is back in the UK. It’s a cliche, yes, but one with a basis in fact.
Tomorrow I may well tell you about the Roti, AKA Food of Champions. But now it’s late. Bedtime, methinks.
