Contact, First Variety

I’ve been in Devon this evening. A night out in Barnstaple. Bar followed by restaurant followed by bar. Enjoyable stuff. This wireless connection is unreliable, so I must be brief.

Man, that Star Trek: First Contact is quite a film, eh? I’ve been watching it on 4 since I got back to my wife’s parents’ house, and I’m reminded of just how much a classic it is. Major dramatic tension, one of the best enemies ever conceived, some great FX, and brilliantly filmed. And yet its budget wasn’t exactly massive. Pretty cheap, in fact. It’s a great example of an action-adventure script that really works. I’ll be explaining why tomorrow. Mainly because I’m about to fall asleep. Goodnight all.
